Although Mart Visser is primarily known as a fashion designer, he has also been an active artist for many years. His intuitive sculptures and paintings experiment with size and materials, where structure, relief, and technique enhance the design – much like in his fashion work.
Visser is fascinated by facial expressions and the power of personalities. Inspired by encounters and guided by intuition, he always starts with a blank canvas. His artworks – often raw and abstract – contrast with the refined lines of his haute couture. The color palette and material diversity are the only overlaps between the two worlds.
